Keeping Baseball Infields Dry and Playable

These pictures depict the solution we applied to a drainage problem (puddling water). For this job, the problem was occurring in the middle of the the infield turf behind the pitcher's mound.
The best solution with the least amount of disturbance to the infield was to install a "recharge pit/trench" in the affected area so that the standing water would "perk"or be absorbed into the sub grade faster.
To complete the solution, 18" of 3/4" drainage stone was placed in the trench under the gray filter fabric followed by 12" of screened topsoil applied before resoding.
This solution kept the turf portion of the infield 'puddle-free' and playable.
